Sesame Workshop, the creators of dynamic children’s content for a variety of media, have now introduced a number of their children’s interactive book apps for the Kindle Fire. Three of the titles, Elmo Loves 123s, Another Monster at the End of This Book, and Potty Time with Elmo, can now be found in the Amazon App Store, enabled for its Android device. All three titles are available for 99cents apiece for a limited time.
One of the greatest obstacles in reaching customers with vibrant apps is the discoverability issue, meaning some fantastic content gets lost while swimming in the various app marketplaces. By working with a well-known retailer for this level of exposure, Sesame Street can hope that more consumers will seek out the beloved children’s brand.
“We are excited to extend the range of our Sesame Street content available to Kindle Fire and Kindle FreeTime Unlimited users with these apps,” said Scott Chambers, Senior Vice President, Worldwide Media Distribution, in a press release. “Our apps focus on everyday encounters and situations for children and help build fundamental skills by inviting them to play along with their friends from Sesame Street.”
Along with the features that consumers have come to expect from interactive app content, the Sesame Street titles feature voice-over narration by beloved Sesame Street monsters Grover and Elmo, personalization options, and more. Along with these new titles, Sesame Workshop is offering two free apps as part of its outreach program, one for children of military families and one for children facing divorce within their families.
The Sesame Street apps will join its other books and television episodes as part of Amazon FreeTime Unlimited, which Amazon rolled out last year as a safe option for children who technologically capable of utilizing a Kindle Fire but who still needed the safeguarding of an enclosed platform. Parents were able to feel confident that their children couldn’t access unapproved content or accidentally make purchases on the device, while still being able to use the device for entertainment and skill building.
