The Good e-Reader Android and Playbook App Store hit a milestone today with over 1.5 million applications downloaded! Considering we just started this project in late January, this is a huge deal for us in helping everyone get access to applications and games you could not normally get.
Initially, we launched our Android App Store with the mandate of helping all of our readers with Android tablets and e-readers get a solid source of applications. If you have a Kindle Fire and live outside the USA, you can’t even access any content from Amazon’s Android Market. If you have the Kobo Vox or Pandigital Novel, their ecosystems are fairly lackluster. Our goal was to give everyone with these e-readers access to popular ebook reading programs like Kindle, Nook, Sony, Kobo, Aldiko, and other apps. Our store continues to focus on reading, but has branched out to include comics, newspapers, magazines, and games.
A few months ago we launched the Playbook App Store because Blackberry finally gained the ability to run Android files via its emulator. Converting files to the exclusive Playbook platform continues to be a challenge, but we feature close to 900 applications.
Some of our top downloads include our own Good e-Reader News App for both Android and Playbook. Our Android and Playbook Store client also have proven popular for people to download apps directly to their device. Thanks for the support everyone!
