Amazon is making changes to the Kindle Rewards Beta program in the United States. They are making it easier to redeem e-book credits right on the product description page for print books and digital books.  Right under the add to cart button is a box, that provides the total number of credits that are owned and simply check mark the box, before adding it to the cart to get a discount for the book.

The redemption process on the product description page does have its caveats. It has to be done on the Amazon website, which can be accessed on a computer, laptop, phone or tablet. It won’t work on the Kindle Shopping app, Kindle e-reader to any of the Kindle apps for Android or iOS.

Amazon will discontinue the original process of redeeming points from the Kindle Rewards Beta page on May 11th, 2025. The change to Kindle Rewards is a welcome one, it simplifies the process, making it more intuitive to use credits to get discounts on books.

What is Kindle Rewards?

Lots of people might not be familiar with Kindle Rewards. At its core, US customers earn credits when purchasing print books or e-books. Once 300 credits are attained, it provides a $3.00 discount that can be used on any title on the Amazon bookstore.

Customers earn 3 Kindle Points per dollar spent on Kindle books and 1 Kindle Point per dollar spent on print books. The amount of points is listed on the Amazon website, right underneath the price. Sometimes, Amazon offers double the points that they announce on social media. These often run for a few days or, in some rare cases, last one week. One of the downsides of the program, is that lots of books have to be purchased just to earn a few credits and Kindle Points expire after three months.
