It has been a month since we have first heard of the Iconia Tab A700 tablet device from Acer, and we have the first real images of the tablet when it recently made an appearance in Russia. Also, the reason why the A700 is significant is that it will mark Acer’s entry into the Tegra 3 club that is still exclusive to just a few players as of now. The Tegra 3 chip on the A700 operates at a max frequency of 1.3 GHz. Another distinction of the A700 is its display resolution, which at 1920 x 1200 is quite healthy for a 10.1 inch sized screen. The touchscreen is also able to pick up 10 finger touch inputs simultaneously.
The tablet has been backed up with a 9800 mAh battery, which should sustain functions of the tablet for a really long time, with up to about 10 hours of video playback time alone. The A700 also has dual camera setup with a 5 megapixel unit complete with a LED flash, donning the rear of the device, while the front camera is HD capable. For other features, the Iconia Tab A700 has Bluetooth, 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, a 3.5 mm audio jack, a micro USB port for expansion, and a microSD card slot for added storage. For display extension there is also the HDMI port on the tablet.
Given its specifications and features, the tablet might well give the new Transformer Prime a run for its money. The tablet is also touted to weigh just 650 gms, and does look nicely built. With CES all set to be held just next month, it will be great if Acer has the A700 up for display there. Meanwhile, there is no information available as to when the tablet will be commerically available or what its price will be like. Maybe we will have all the answers at the upcoming CES.

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
