In Florida the big event going on this week is Blackberry World 2011, where tons of news is coming down the pipes for the Playbook. Today’s breaking news is the fact Adobe is going to be launching their “Creative Suite” of applications in the next few months to really make the Playbook stand out from the other tablets.
The seminal tablet from Canadian based RIM is going to have some great production applications coming down the pipe in the next few months. One of the big factors on the Adobe situation is the fact the tablet runs the Adobe Air SDK. Many applications including the new Facebook application that launched yesterday uses this to take the Playbook to the next level.
The one thing Tablet PC‘s have suffered from, is that they are pure consumption devices. They are meant to entertain, but not to do any kind of serious work. Some of the newer enterprise tablets to launch such as the Cisco Cius seek to change it, and of course RIM who is well known for its business class of users.
The one thing that excites me is that Adobe Creative Suite is brimming with great applications like Photoshop, Dreamweaver and more! Creative Suite 5.5 is launching today with support for the Playbook right out of the box.
It will be interesting to see the separation between pure consumption devices and production tablets later this year.
