Amazon has experienced massive success with their $50 Fire tablet and the company has proclaimed that it has sold millions of them. One of the big drawbacks is the lack of memory, it only has 8 GB of storage and you can’t read e-books from the SD card. Amazon has recognized that people are downloading apps, television shows and e-books and have quietly introduced a new variant of the Fire Tablet with 16 GB of memory and it costs $59.
It is currently unknown whether Amazon will phase out the Fire model with only 8 GB of memory, but I think its more likely they will continue to sell the two side by side.
