The Arnova range of tablets from the French manufacturer Archos has just become that much more endearing. Its all due to the price which has just been announced. Fortunately the price has been kept well within the reach of the masses. The tablet vary in size from 7 to 10 inch and are all within 99 euros and 249 euros, which comes out to between $136 and $342 at current exchange rates.
The biggest (and of course the costliest) of the lot is Arnova 10 with a 10 inch screen. The tablet is already available in Europe from Kesa group stores for 199 euro or $273. The tablet includes an USB port which allows external accessories such as a mouse, keyboard or an external hard drive to be attached with the tablet.
Next in line is the 8 inch sized Arnova 8 that boasts of a 4:3 format display. The tablet has been priced at 149 euros ($204) and will be available from this March onwards.
The last of the lot is Arnova 7 which is also the cheapest and smallest of the Arnova trio. To be available from the second quarter of 2011, the Archos 7 will comes for a super affordable £84 or $135.
All the tablet’s will come loaded with Android 2.2 Froyo and not the tablet optimized Android 3.0 Honeycomb. Also, all the three tablets will come with the twin screen options of a resistive or capacitive touch screen so as to appeal to those who want it real cheap. In addition, the two larger tablets – Arnova 10 and Arnova 8 will have a 720p resolution.
However, Archos points out its not all about the cheap price which, as per the company, does not get reflected on the actual product. “Packed full of multimedia features and simple to use, the new Arnova range of Android tablets is a great entry-level way to experience the world of tablets,” is how a company announcement puts it.
Let’s just hope the tablets do not disappoint on the performance front.

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
