Asus had earlier announced ‘awesome new features‘ for its Transformer Prime device; and the good news is, those awesome features are now finally available. So if the update hasn’t already made it to the device, Transformer Prime users can try and download it manually.
As for the new features, there is the system bar lock that will lock the screen when not in use so that users wont have to worry about hitting a wrong app accidentally ever again. Sure getting back on again will take a second or two but the wait can still be worth it.
There is also an update for the @Vibe music service along with the lock screen notifications. Then there also are the usual bug fixes and performance ehancement dose that is usually part of every update.
While all the above are now currently available for the Transformer Prime, there is also news about Asus contemplating giving away free GFS dongle to make up for the lack of GPS performance on the tablet. This originated from an e-mail transcript about ASUS currently testing such a dongle.
“We will be releasing a dongle shortly that will address the GPS function and be a fully usable GPS that will lock onto many satellites and keep their lock with Wi-Fi active. GPS dongle will be provided for free when it arrives. ETA is mid April for this and we are setting up a process for it. We will inform you once the process is complete and the dongles here. It will look similar to the hinge from the dock. Where it will be a flush fit on the bottom of the unit if held in landscape matching the color of your Prime chassis,” the e-mail revealed.
What all of this means is that the Transformer Prime which is already a nice tablet device will only get better in the coming days.
