Datawind, the Canada based manufacturer that has been contracted to manufacture the Aakash expect to sell 15 million units of the tablet PCs this year alone. The target, though ambitious should not be too easy to reach considering its single biggest customer will be the Human Resource and Development ministry of India itself that is expected to pick up 10 million of their tablets as per company projections.
Datawind, on its part, does not intend to restrict their tablet to India only but is also keen to have access to markets in Brazil, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Thailand and Panama. However, the company will have to start production in the three other manufacturing units that it is setting up in Cochin, Noida and Hyderabad if it wishes to storm the above mentioned markets with enough of the low cost tablets.
It has been only hype and not much real action on ground as far as Aakash tablet and Datawind goes. The company needs to take stock and apply itself wholeheartedly if it has to continue to revel in its presently found success. The Aakash is can be booked online and has been priced Rs. 2,499 with another Rs. 199 as shipping charges.

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
