Apple with its iPad is for sure the pioneering gadget in the tablet-computing segment. However it won’t be too long till Apple will have all the market to itself as other companies will surely not want Apple to have all the fun in this segment. In fact there has been a surge of competitive products as soon as iPad was announced and each of them promises to better the rest. And among these, the one that has garnered tremendous response is the Slate tablet PC from HP.
So if you have not been impressed with what Apple has to offer in the iPad and have held back from pre-ordering it from Apple, here is some piece of news about the Slate that you might be interested in. Though not yet official, word is that the HP Slate is likely to hit markets in the US sometime in June followed by a European launch in September. As for the price, its going to be around €400, which translates to about $540.
However, that’s not how it usually works out since the Dollar price is often of the same numerical value as its Euro counterpart. If that is the case then the Slate might retail for just $400, which at this price is still $99 less than the entry level iPad. Or even if the Slate is available at $540, it still is a great buy considering the features that comes standard with the Slate.
As is already common knowledge now, Slate will feature the Intel Atom CPU and Windows 7. Further, HP Slate will have provision for USB connectivity, a memory card reader, and Webcam as standard feature. Slate will also have Flash support, the one all important thing that is missing in the iPad and what HP had hyped will be present in their Slate.
HP is expected to come out clean about its slate prior to the availability of the iPad to the masses, which is going to be on the 3rd of April in the US and 25th of April in Canada. This would enable HP to wean away as many prospective iPad buyers towards its Slate as is possible. This is the latest E-Reader news from Good E-Reader

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
