Next version of the MediaPad from Huawei with Android Ice Cream Sandwich pre-loaded is going to be available in select markets by this quarter. Present owners of the MediaPad need not despair as the company has announced availability of the update OTA for all existing users at around the same time. The MediaPad is available in the US as the T-Mobile Springboard and the Orange Tahiti in the UK.
In another interesting development, Huawei also stated a color version of the MediaPad is next. It will be available in shadow black, classic brown, and passion pink, though the colored tablets will come pre-loaded with Android 3.2 and not the latest Android ICS. So users opting for the colorful MediaPads will have to upgrade to ICS on their own after the update is released.
“In a tablet market defined by staid black and white tablets, the new colorful MediaPad offers a personalized look without the need for an external case. With a hardware package that includes a high-quality screen, a powerful dual-core processor, and long battery life, these colorful MediaPad embodies a rare combination of style and performance,” said Richard Yu, Chairman, Huawei Device.
As a refresher, the MediaPad packs in some decent specs in the form of a 1.2 GHz dual core processor, 7 inch 1280 x 800 pixel IPS display, 5 megapixel rear camera with HD support, 1.3 megapixel front cam, along with a 4100 mAh battery that should be enough for 6 hours of run-time. Also, Huawei has been the first to adopt Android 3.2 for use on a 7 inch tablet device.

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
