Mototrola has revealed the good news via a twitter update wherein it stated they are now offering the XOOM Wi-Fi official access to Google Movies. So what this means is that one will now be able to rent their favorite movies from the Android Market and watch them on the XOOM Wi-Fi using the Google Videos app also available at the Android Market. There will be an update in this regard that will make the ‘Movies’ tab in the Android Market.
Google Movies comprise of a collection of about 3000 movies from some of the biggest names in the industry such as Universal, Sony and Warner Bros. They are available for rent or purchase for viewing on Android tablet with rental prices starting at about $1.99. The service has so far been available only on 3G tablets running Android 3.1 or Android Froyo based smartphones. The XOOM Wi-Fi is the latest entrant to the list and the first non 3G tablet to be accorded the status.
Also, the movies can be rented from Youtube as well and can be watched on Android tablets as well as smartphones. In fact, what makes the Google Movies unique is that it isn’t platform specific as Youtube is available across all platforms. This can surely make things a tad difficult for other similar service such as Samsung Movies that not only has far less titles available (500) but movies from it can only be played on Samsung branded devices.
However, Android Market Movies is only available to those in the US as of now. Also, those who have rooted their XOOM will also be kept outside of the Google Movies magic.

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
