Some of the earliest adopters of digital magazine editions were publishers like Conde Nast, Meredith, and Hearst, who saw the potential in offering their subscribers the ability to enjoy portability but also to consume additional content that didn’t make its way into print editions due to spacing limitations or the paper format. Those three, along with Time, Inc. and News Corporation, came together to form Next Issue, a company dedicated to making a full catalog of high-interest digital titles available for Android or iOS devices via a subscription based model that allows unlimited access to their content.
Now, Next Issue has unveiled a new feature to aid readers in greater discoverability and selection. Using its Facebook Connect feature, readers who download the free Next Issue App and sign into the app through their Facebook accounts will be given the chance to sample various titles before buying the issue or subscribing.
According to a post on the launch on the Next Issue website, “Using Facebook Connect, it’s even easier for iPad® users to get a free sample of some of our top magazines. By simply downloading the Next Issue app from the App Store℠, launching it and signing in with Facebook, users will be able to sample free current issues from a variety of popular titles.
“We hope people love the magazines they sample—and if they want unlimited access to all of the titles in our catalog on iPads, Android tablets or Windows 8 devices, they can simply sign up for a free 30-day trial.”
Next Issue also curated a list of new best-in-category magazine titles, such as Rolling Stone and Us Weekly, bringing its complete catalog of available magazines to just under one hundred titles. Currently, downloading the free app allows users to experience 30-days of unlimited access for free.
