The Toshiba Thrive will wake up from its sleep, fit and fine, from next week at the earliest. This was revealed by a Toshiba spokeswoman who said the update would be made available via the Toshiba Service Station application that comes pre-loaded on the Thrive. The spokeswoman also revealed the update will be including some multimedia playback enhancements as well.
The Toshiba Thrive comes with a 10.1 inch display and runs Android Honeycomb. Toshiba’s earlier attempt at a tablet PC in the form of the Folio 100 had failed to live up to expectations, prompting Toshiba to eventually pull it off. In that sense, it’s good to see the company acting promptly with the sleep issues of the Thrive.
The Toshiba has also received positive reviews so far, save for the sleep issues that seems to have affected a subset of users who reported the Thrive will simply not wake up from sleep. Some had to resort to rebooting their tablet to make it operational again while some mentioned they had to remove the battery and reattach things again to get things working again.
In any case, one of the biggest pluses with the Thrive is its user replaceable battery, though Toshiba surely wouldn’t have liked this particular feature to have been tested as some had to do to make the Thrive operational again after sleep. It’s a good thing though that a solution is in the works and will be available soon.

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
