The biggies in the business, such as Lenovo, Dell, and Acer, have all made known their commitment to the upcoming Windows 8 platform. ViewSonic has addded itself to that list by recently announcing they will develop a tablet device running Windows 8. The tablet will come with a 10 inch display, which ViewSonic has clarified will be launched sometime in the second quarter of 2012. Which is surprising, because Windows 8 has been set for a release not a moment before the third quarter of 2012.
As Max Liu, the product marketing director of ViewSonic Asia Pacific puts it, “The Windows 8 model will come with a 10-inch display with high resolution initially.” Given these scenarios, a possible explanation could be that the tablet would be released with Windows 7 as its OS, only to be upgraded later on when the official version of Windows 8 comes to be.
Update: Just got a mail from a ViewSonic spokesperson claiming the Windows 8 tablet they are working on will be launched during the second half of 2012 and not Q2 2012 as is mentioned above.
“ViewSonic expects Windows 8 in the market the second half of 2012, not the second quarter, and the company is working on a Windows 8 tablet solution to hit the market in the same timeframe,” is what the statement revealed.
Thanks Amy!

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
