We bring you more news from the FCC! ViewSonic’s 7 inch device named ViewPad has made it to the FCC. This while its bigger sibling, the 10 inch ViewPad is already available from Sears. ViewSonic, however, is claiming the device to be a “Large Screen Smart Phone” though it must also be said 7 inches is a bit too big for a smartphone and would indeed make an awkward picture of someone holding up to the ears a device that big. Instead, the ViewPad 7 is perhaps better off with a proper tablet tag running the popular Android operating system.
The ViewPad, for its part, is capable of supporting GSM bands 900, 1800, 1900 and 2100 but has a rather disappointing battery life of only 4 to 6 hours. Also, there is no news as of now as to when we can expect the ViewPad 7 to enter US markets or what it will be priced when that eventually happens. However, if you think you can’t wait to lay your hands on the device, you can always pick one up from Expansys where it costs $545.
