It’s turning out to be a season of discounts with almost every other tablet manufacturer relying on the best and time tested method of selling their wares—slashing prices. We have already seen XOOM prices heading southwards in India, and now it’s been slashed again so that the tablet now costs less than INR 23,000. Online retailers Flipkart and Letsbuy have now listed the XOOM 3G for INR 22,999 and INR 22,500 respectively. The corresponding Wi-Fi versions of the XOOM had earlier seen their price drop down to around 20k. Also, the move already seems to be bearing fruit, for both Flipkart and Letsbuy is reporting to have run out of stock of the XOOM Wi-Fi tablets, though the 3G versions are still there.
The XOOM always had the specs to make it big, though one of its biggest inhibiting factor with the world’s first Honeycomb tablet has been its high costs. Now with that having been dealt with, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the tablet is finally getting the consumer response it could have had when it was first launched had the price then was reasonable enough. Also, that the XOOM will soon be seen running Android 4.0 should be another reason to go for it right now.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab (first gen), along with the BlackBerry PlayBook and HTC Flyer, are among the other tablets that are now being made a lot cheaper.

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
