The 3M Cloud Library System and CEO Tom Mercer will be at the American Library Association Mid-Winter Conference in Seattle next week. The company has new features for the ebook platform that they will be hyping up to existing and new partners.
One of the new elements to their platform is the Improved Catalog Acquisition Tool. This new feature makes it simple for libraries to manage their content and generate reports to measure how their collection is performing. With this powerful buying portal, building an ebook collection is easier than ever.
3M has also made a new app for MAC computers, which is available right now in the App Store. Customers will be able to read and borrow books and then facilitate the sending of digital content to your tablet or e-reader.
The most exciting new project 3M is working on is the public API tools for developers. It will allow libraries and app developers to offer library browsing and borrowing within their existing applications. The system is now fully integrated and live within the Polaris ILS, allowing patrons at participating libraries to discover, check out, and place holds on both physical and digital collections in just one catalog.
Good e-Reader will be reporting live from the ALA Mid-Winter conference and will show a live video demonstration of all of the new 3M features.
