Autography, LLC, creators of patent-pending software that allows authors to connect with their fans via personalized signings inserted into ebooks on many of the most accessible reading-dedicated devices, such as Kindle, Nook, Sony e-Reader, and Kobo, as well as iOS multi-function devices like the iPad.
“The continuing shift to ebooks has created new opportunities,” said Autography cofounder Robert Barrett. “We are delighted the investment community understands how we are facilitating these new interactions between authors and readers.”
The recent angel investor’s funds will lead to an expansion of Autography’s current model, as well as the development of new protocols aimed at reaching a broader audience in order to connect them with their favorite authors. One tool that Autography has been exploring to reach out to readers is a more readily accessible form of ebook signing events that incorporate the ability to receive personalized author inscriptions, post those authors pages to readers’ Facebook and Twitter pages, as well as opportunities to interact with authors at online events.
According to Autography co-founder Tom Waters, the ebook signing software platform will be extending its work into foreign markets in the near future. The digital publishing industry as a whole has viewed the recent growth of e-reading markets in both Germany and France and the current rumors of the development of an Amazon Kindle store in China as the current frontier of digital reading.
