Another university system has taken on the daunting task of digital textbook adoption and publication, this time the highly regarded State University of New York (SUNY) press. SUNY has partnered with textbook produce Kno to bring even more options to the academic landscape for college students this spring by working to digitize thousands of SUNY press titles. This collaboration means Kno now works with some of the largest university presses, including Indiana University Press, MIT Press, Oxford University Press, Princeton University Press, SUNY Press, University of Chicago Press, University of Nebraska Press, University of North Carolina Press, University Press of Mississippi, University of Virginia Darden Business Publishing, and Yale University Press.
Under this new agreement, SUNY will provide Kno with content for digitization, affording students options in selecting texts. This will add even more material to Kno’s current catalog of over 200,000 titles from more than 80 publishers, providing academic options to public schools and higher education institutions.
“Digital content is a rapidly expanding and important format that offers unique advantages to the education sector, and this partnership between SUNY Press and Kno allows educators and students to utilize our content, both individually and collaboratively, in new and very meaningful ways,” said Greg Smith, SUNY Press Digital Programs Manager, in a press release.
“Our partnership with SUNY Press will give students access to an even wider selection of titles as they head into the Spring semester,” said Mark Williams, Vice President of Sales, Kno, Inc. “SUNY’s reach as one of the largest university presses with exclusive content, combined with Kno’s digital interactive features, will provide students with a premier digital reading experience to achieve their academic goals.”
In addition to the recent launch of Kno Me, an interactive dashboard that provides learners with data on how they engaged with the texts in order to be more successful in both study and evaluation, Kno has established itself as a digital publishing solution for both academic publishers and parents who need access to their children’s texts in tablet form. From its initial launch, Kno has expanded to maintain compatibility with iOs, Android, Windows 8, and browser-based devices and computers, meeting students’ needs wherever they happen to learn.
