During the 7 days of Christmas until the new Year various App markets saw a record amount of downloads. This is a copious amount of apps downloaded from both the iOS and Android Markets. Over 6.8 million new phones and tablets were activated during this period which saw more people then ever flock to download games like Angry Birds.
Prior to the holidays it has been thought that over 109 million active subscriptions are going for people who live in the USA and 246 million worldwide. Industry annylists are speculating that this large trend of downloads will continue into 2012, with 1 billion downloads per week becoming common place. This is due to more tablets having 3G/4G or LTE connections and smartphones coming down in price and becoming more powerful.
