Apple has some good news for lawyers. As per a deal reached between the American Bar Association and Apple, e-books pertaining to legal matters will soon be available for download from the Apple iBookStore. The first title on offer is ‘iPad in One Hour for Lawyers‘ now available for download via the iBookStore for $17.99.
However, the app ‘iPad in One Hour for Lawyers’ can be considered more of a tutorial as it provides tips and tricks to those who wish to use the iPad as an aid to make things simple with their day-to-day legal proceedings. It has been designed so that both advanced users and beginners can be equally at ease with the app. The app will also be equally relevant to those studying law as well as attorneys who have been in the business for years. So from the technical aspects, such as ways to set up the interface, multitask, sync files, or keyboard and browser tips and shortcuts to the legal aspects such as managing pleadings, case law, contracts, and other legal documents, ‘iPad in One Hour for Lawyers’ has it all. Of course, there is no stopping anyone outside of the legal fraternity to download the app if they wish to pick up a trick or two about legal matters.
Andrea Hartley, Chair of the ABA Law Practice Management Section has this to say of the latest development: “We are thrilled to partner with Apple to offer our cutting-edge legal publications as e-books in the iBookstore. iPad in One Hour for Lawyers, one of our bestselling titles of the year, is the perfect book to mark the launch of the e-book program. Readers can easily download the book on their iPads and learn as they go. We look forward to publishing many more e-books on Apple’s platform in the future.”
The ‘iPad in One Hour for Lawyers’ will be compatible on all Apple devices. So while ‘iPad in One Hour for Lawyers’ can be considered a tutorial, it is a good sign of what more are in the pipeline in this domain.
Interestingly, the timing of the new deal couldn’t have come at a better time, what with a lot of companies now engaged in patent wars the world over, and Apple itself featuring in a few of those.

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
