Barnes and Noble is trying to sell more of their tablets by discounting every single model by $50 until December 31st. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 Nook, Samsung Galaxy Tab E and Galaxy Tab Nook 7 are all currently eligible for the discount.
Should you buy these new Nook tablets with the added savings? I recommend no. The bookseller only makes these available in the US and if you live outside of the country you can’t buy e-books, download apps or participate in the Nook ecosystem. If you live in the US, there is simply too many different devices that are a better financial investment. The Pixel C by Google is a solid purchase, ditto with the new Surface or even an iPad Mini.
Barnes and Noble has lost over a billion dollars on Nook hardware and each financial quarter they consistently report a 20% drop in sales. Their business model is flawed and their hardware is outsourced by Samsung. There isn’t even a Nook logo on any of the tablets they sell.
