Lenovo has come up with a tablet device so massive that is quite appropriately being called a Table PC. It opens a completely new segment with a display as huge as 27 inches. The size makes it perfect for more than one person to operate the device and has enough of computing power to accommodate multiple players at the same time, making it just right for multiplayer games. However, while the IdeaCente Horizontal Table PC can be the biggest tablet that you might have ever dreamt of, a display that big will also make for the perfect touch enabled desktop system. This has also allowed the Chinese manufacturer to introduce yet another entirely new term in the computing lexicon—Phygital—to sum up the physical and digital interaction that the IdeaCentre Horizontal Table PC allows.
Inside the intimidating dimension lies a third gen Intel Core i7 chip together with an NVIDIA GeForce graphics card. The integrated Dolby Home Theatre v4 allows for an immersive audio experience. Lenovo is aiming at the gaming segment primarily with the Windows 8 running IdeaCentre Table PC. The device comes pre-installed with gaming titles, such as the Windows 8 version of the popular board game, Monopoly, Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, FishingJoy, Bluestacks, and Raiding Company, among a few others. There is the Lenovo App Store as well, that will let users have access to thousands of games.
There are a few accessories included in the package, including strikers, e-dice, and four joysticks. What’s more, the device will also be compatible with Android games, thanks to it being loaded with BlueStacks app.
The 27 inch 1080p display features the proprietary Lenovo interface termed Auro that makes the device receptive to multiple touch inputs. Auro comes into effect automatically when the device is laid flat and is disengaged while with the kickstand in place and the device is used as an AiO.
The IdeaCentre Table PC is slated for a summer release and has been priced $1,699. However, if you think that is big enough for a tablet or a desktop device, Lenovo has lined up an even massive IdeaCentre Gamma that will grace the Lenovo stand at the CES 2013 event.
With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
