The ViewSonic ViewPad 7e is being held in the same breath as the Amazon Kindle Fire, owing to the same $199.99 price tag for both. However, while Amazon has already made it known when its Kindle Fire will be hitting streets, ViewSonic has been less prompt on that. Until today, that is, when it finally made it clear the ViewPad will make its North American debut in late October, followed by a November release in the Latin Americas.
However, the ViewPad 7e is at par with the Kindle Fire on the price front, it does have some inherent advantage vis-a-vis Amazon offering. The ViewPad 7e covers a wider spectrum than that of the Kindle Fire (which is more Amazon-centric with the ability to only read books, watch movies, and listen to music that’s available only at Amazon). The ViewSonic tablet also boasts of a 3 megapixel camera at the rear for taking snaps and videos and a 0.3 megapixel front facing camera as well for holding video calls. The ViewPad 7e can also be connected to an external display through its HDMI port while the SD card slot will allow for more storage (32 GB) options once the 4 GB of internal memory has reached its limits.
As for the tablet itself, the ViewPad 7e comes with a 7 inch capacitive display with 800 x 600 pixel resolution. The tablet is based on a 1 GHz ARM A8 single core processor. It runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, which comprises of the SPB Shell 3D application launcher and the Swype keyboard application integrated to it. For connectivity, the ViewSonic7e has 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi.

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
