Amazon has just created a strange bundle that comprises of their entry level Kindle e-Reader and the super cheap Fire Tablet 7 with Alexa. You can purchase both of these devices for $94, which is a savings of $34 and it is only available for US customers.
The Kindle that Amazon is offering is the Kindle 8th generation that came out in 2016. It employs an older E-Ink Pearl screen and the resolution is a paltry 167 PPI. If you never had an e-reader before and want to see what the experience is like before you invest in something with better performance, the Amazon ecosystem is a good place to start.
Meanwhile the Fire 7 with Alexa came out earlier this year and it has 171 ppi and SD playback of videos. Amazon has sold millions of these and the product resonates with consumers who want something cheap with no frills.
Amazon is no stranger to bunding, they often give a free subscription to Kindle Unlimited with the purchase of a Kindle or with a case. This is the first time the company has ever bundled an ereader and tablet together.
