How to Load eBooks on the Kindle 4 eReader

By

kindle ebook

Welcome to another Good e-Reader Video Tutorial! Today we show you how to load ebooks on your new $79 Kindle 4. We demonstrate how to use Calibre and Windows Explorer to facilitate the copying process.

Calibre is a free open source ebook management program and is very solid for editing your books before you copy them over. It is also good for converting ebooks from one format to another. We show you the entire process of copying a book using this program to your Kindle. Also, along the way we show you how to use the program effectively.

Next we show you how to use Windows Explorer to simply copy and paste books to your device. They have to go into the documents directly and the books need to be PDF or MOBI.

We also made another Video Tutorial that shows you how to borrow books from libraries using Overdrive and checking them out on your Kindle. Check it out HERE.

    Hi there,

Did you really prepare for the calibre video? I mean, the book was already loaded on the device. Besides that, what is the point of adding a book into your Calibre library, if, then, you add it to your device from your computer’s desktop? The whole point of adding a book to your Calibre library and editing its metadata is that you press SEND TO DEVICE button and add it to your device. The green check mark in the device catalogue means that this book is already in your library (and not only on your device). I don’t really think Calibre is a tool you have used a lot before. Also, you should mention that most ebooks out of Amazon are in epub format which is not compatible with Kindle devices. Still, Calibre can be used to change epub into Kindle’s mobi format. Given of course that the epub is not locked. If you only buy ebooks at Amazon, you don’t really need Calibre to edit your ebooks, do you? I hope this helps to prepare a better video for goodereader visitors. Take care. Spyros from Athens, Greece (erizo@otenet.gr).
