They both are incremental upgrades over the previous generation models, if you have the Note 2 or Nova 2, upgrading to the latest, might not make a ton of sense. Amazon Alexa has a new book recommendation system
Amazon Alexa has added some new functionality to discover new ebooks. Now, customers can simply say “Alexa, what should I read next?” to get a book recommendation based on personalized, top-selling or trending books from over 20 million Audible, Kindle or print titles. The conversational experience allows customers to ask for specific genres or authors, listen to book summaries, learn about ratings, editorial reviews and more. The feature is another example of the many ways Alexa is becoming more conversational and natural to interact with. And, it’s particularly useful for consumers who are now reading more while at home due to COVID-19.

They have a really good lighting system, although the Note Air is better, due to the extra LED lights. Onyx gears the Max and Air towards creatives and professionals, who want a device geared towards productivity. You can freehand draw, make notes, edit PDF files/ebooks. There is minimal distractions with these type of devices, you are not going to be barraged with notifications and phone calls. Android provides a ton of flexibility to send your edited PDF files or notes to the cloud storage solution of your choice or just send them via email.
Remarkable 2 vs the Onyx Boox Note Air
The Onyx Boox Note Air and Remarkable 2 are two of the best 10.3 inch digital note taking devices that have been released this year. The two devices provide drastically different user experiences. Remarkable bills it as derestriction free, so you won’t find an internet browser, email or social media. Onyx, primarily markets it as a multipurpose tablet, with an E INK screen, but it also does a damn good job at drawing. What product is better?
The Remarkable 2 and Note Air both have 10.3 inch displays that have a layer of glass. They include a WACOM display and both ship with a stylus, although the Remarkable stylus is better, due to the build quality. One of the benefits of the Remarkable 2 is the tilt sensitivity, they are currently the only company to have this feature. You can do shading, by just drawing on an angle. This is an excellent feature and one of the big selling points. Both devices have 4,096 degrees of pressure sensitivity and palm rejection technology.
Amazon Kindle Oasis sold out until November
The Amazon Kindle Oasis received big discounts on Prime Day and it looks like so many people bought a new e-Reader, that it is sold out until November 9th. The 8GB and 32GB models, are not available to order, and ditto with the Oasis Bundle. These devices are not just out of stock in the United States, but Canada too.
Kindle makes it easier to borrow ebooks from Prime Reading
The Amazon Kindle line of e-readers is now making it easier to borrow ebooks from Kindle Unlimited, Prime Reading and the public library, right on your home screen. This is all apart of the 5.13.3 firmware update that was just released today, it is compatible with most devices dating back to the Kindle Voyage.
Tolino Family Sharing is going to be live on October 19th
The German e-reader company Tolino, has announced that they have developed a Family Sharing system. It will allow you to buy a single ebook and share it with up to six uses from one household. It is set to go live on October 19th, 2020 and is part of the 14.0.1 firmware update.
Should E INK E-Notes Continue to use Glass based Displays?
There is no shortage of E INK based digital note taking devices or e-notes that have hit he market in 2020. The vast majority are using glass based displays. This includes the Remarkable 2, Onyx Boox Note Air, Supernote A6X and a myriad of others. Glass makes the screen more durable and a stylus is less likely to scratch the screen. The downsides is glass based displays are heavier and there is less friction, when drawing on the screen.
