August 24, 2010 By Michael Kozlowski 10 Comments

kindle for ipad

Today Amazon rolled out an update to their beloved iPad application. You can update it for free via the Apple App Store. Some fixes include improved highlight sensitivity to reduce inadvertent highlights when turning pages.

Whats new in version 2.2.1

• Improved highlight sensitivity to reduce inadvertent highlights when turning pages
• Fixed a crash some customers experience when highlighting a word
• Corrected a problem where the most recent page is not saved when returning to the app
• Other bug fixes based on customer feedback

The Amazon Kindle app is certainly making life easier for people who have upgraded their e-reader to the iPad or use it in parallel. Some recent updates with the app include new functionality, such as adding embedded video and audio to Kindle eBooks. Amazon has started its new venture with thirteen enhanced eBooks available here today, which include travel guides and cookbooks. It will also allow you to read subscribed blogs and newspapers on your device as well.

Be very careful about ‘upgrading’ to version 2.3. It features mandatory two page format for books in landscape mode. It is receiving disastrous reviews on the iTunes store. Be sure to read the reviews of this new version before clicking ‘upgrade.’ Apparently, there’s no going back. So far, no comments from Amazon.
