Onyx Phone will not come out this year

A brand new Onyx Boox phone was showcased at this years Consumer Electronics Show and many people thought it would be out sometime this year. This is not the case and I have it on good authority that it will not come out until 2021. I have heard that their engineers are retooling the device, although the exact changes are unknown. I think they are going to try and ship it with Android 10, which is the same OS that the Max Lumi and Note Air are running.

Unboxing the 13.3 inch Onyx Boox Max Lumi e-note

The Max Lumi has a glass based screen that is flush with the bezel. It has a black, two toned color scheme on the front. There is a physical home button, right below the screen. The top of the chassis has a power button and on the bottom is your HDMI, USB-C, Microphone ports. On the back are  your two stereo speakers. I have found that the Max Lumi has great build quality and it feels heavy. It is an expensive e-note, since you are paying over 800 for it, so it is not for everyone. If you are looking for an ultra-modern 13.3 with a front-light and amber LED lights to read in the dark, or directly in the sun, this is for you.

All new Onyx Boox Note Air is now available

The Onyx Boox Note Air is a new product from Onyx that features a very slim design and a front-light with color temperature system. It comes with Google Android 10 and you can launch two apps at once and use them in a split screen view, something that has never been done before on a digital note taking device. It comes with freshly designed stylus, that has some hefty weight, so it is easier to draw. This device is available now from Good e-Reader for $459.

Onyx Boox is developing a color e-reader based on the Nova 2

Onyx Boox has submitted a letter to the FCC, letting them know that they will be using the same internals as the Nova 2, except they are calling it the Nova 2 Color. The company has just launched the Poke 2 color today, but they only produced 100 units and were sold out in a few hours. They have not submitted any documentation to the FCC for the Poke 2 Color, which leads me to believe this was a test to see if people would respond to a color e-reader, which they did. It looks like Onyx is now taking color seriously.

Onyx Boox Poke 2 with Color E INK Screen is sold out in a day

Onyx Boox has just released the Poke 2 color e-reader. This device had a very limited production run and less than one hundred got made. The company wants to run an experiment to see if there is a market for this type of product. This is due to the limitation of E INK Kalidio, which is able to display over 4,096 different colors. The front-light has to be on for the colors to display properly, and they tend to look muted with a glass layer, so Onyx is using a sunken screen and bezel, which is what Pocketbook did with their color e-reader. This device is sold out in less than 24 hours.

Onyx Boox is having a back to school sale
