Kobo at Walmart will be the deathblow for the B&N Nook
The only meaningful competition in the United States is Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Amazon sells their Kindles primarily online and people find it hard to get any hands on experience, before they buy one. Barnes and Noble has moved the Nook section to the back of the store and is slowly dismantling all of their Nook kiosks at every bookstore. This situation has been ripe for Kobo to make a major splash.

Major publishers all have different strategies for selling ebooks to the public library system. Baker & Taylor, Overdrive and a myriad of others have to have enough of a selection to keep their patrons satisfied, but it can be challenging to know all of the different prices, terms and models that publishers employ, since they have changed many times over the years.
